Frequently asked questions

There are many different definitions of what kinesiology is, and when you read them it sort of makes sense but does not really give you a good heads up on what you’re in for when you attend a kinesiology session.

Kinesiology seems to combine a whole collection of eastern medicine practices to address the issue that you come in for. What does this really mean? When you visit the clinic with your issue or health concern, we will be interested in more than just the presenting issue or concern. We will ask you about;

  • the environment you live in,
  • your relationships with others,
  • what food you eat,
  • how much you sleep, work, play, rest.
  • We are interested in how you think and process information.

WHY?? Well because if we don’t we are only addressing the SYMPTOM you walked in the door with. If we only address the symptom does this really resolve the issue or health concern? No,

When you leave the clinic you will be going back to the same old thing that created the problem, so, it can re-manifest itself.

All health concerns or wellbeing issues arise because something CAUSED them to occur. We are interested in finding the cause and resolving or eliminating the causal factor. With the cause resolved you can no longer manifest the presenting symptom.

No. Definitely not. You should always make sure that you are under the guidance and care of a general practitioner or medical doctor for all health needs.

Kinesiology is a great modality that works together with standard medical care.

All the techniques used are non-invasive. Sessions are done with all clothes on, and you can choose to sit in a chair, lie on a massage table or stand. Many clients love to relax and have the techniques carried out while they lie on a warm massage table.

The kinesiology therapist will use specific acupressure points, meridian energy pathways, and locate different areas around the body to palpate, or carry out a correction to resolve the issue you presented with.

Remember all corrections are non-invasive and are carried out gently to allow the body to come back into balance and a state of wellbeing.

Kinesiology is used in assisting all manner of health and wellbeing concerns, many clients come to see us with;

  • physical issues,
  • mental and emotional issues,
  • learning difficulties,
  • food issues,
  • relationship concerns,
  • work related issues,
  • personal and business mentoring,
  • goal setting,
  • behavioural difficulties and much more,

the best way to know if kinesiology is going to assist or help you is to experience one session, you will know straight away if it’s going to work for your or not.

Many people ask this question, and it’s a good one. But it’s not an easy one to answer, because everybody is so different. Some people resolve their issue in one or two sessions. Some take longer.

The best way to answer this question is to see how you respond after your first session. You and your therapist can see more clearly how fast or slow the process may take.

This is not really a realistic expectation to have of yourself. Think about how long you have had your issue or problem, most people when they answer this question truthfully say years.

If you are expecting to be ‘sorted’ after one hour when you have had the problem for years, you may not be giving your body or the therapist the time to resolve your issue properly.

Kinesiology is a fantastic therapy and is known for resolving issues quickly, but it is important to be realistic.

No, kinesiology is all about you resolving your issue as quickly as possible and then learning strategies that allow you to maintain and manage good health and wellbeing.

The best way to think about kinesiology is the ‘Little red train’ children’s story. When you arrive for your first session you are the little red train stuck at the bottom of a very steep hill. The Kinesiologist will proverbially push you up the hill a little bit every session. Once you are up and over the hill, that’s it, you are done.

This is a very important question, and the answer is ….. YES, if you are interested and serious about taking care of your health and wellbeing.

Your car needs a tune up every 10,000km, you need your tune up too. Kinesiology is a great simple way to make sure you are 100% mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually

This is a good question and one that varies with each person, because we all choose to live life a little differently. Think about it this way, a high performance racing car will require a lot more maintenance than the family sedan because it’s used very differently.

Think about how you live life and how hard and demanding you are on your body. Are you driving your body like the family sedan or more like a high performance racing car. How well are you looking after your body, is it getting rest, good food, and the nurture it requires, how much stress are you subjected to daily?

If you have never had kinesiology before, and are trying to resolve an issue or health concern your Kinesiologist will discuss when the best time to re-attend will be. Many factors are taken into account, how much time your body needs to adjust and settle between sessions to be best effective, and your life circumstances, the Kinesiologist will work with you here so that the best plan can be put in place without creating you any stress.

If you have resolved your issue or health concern and are looking to make sure you stay ‘tuned’ for peak performance and wellbeing, a good way to know when you need a ‘tune-up’ is when you don’t feel quite right, or things don’t seem to be flowing like they used to, or your body starts to give you a gentle reminder through stiffness, pain or not functioning as well as it could be.

Don’t ignore your body, it’s a good communicator, you just need to listen and then do something about it sooner than later.

It’s when you leave things too long that they become more difficult to resolve.
